Xcaret from Cancun, every way there

Xcaret sits about 75 km south of Cancun on Highway 307, so the park is an easy day trip - but a long one. Here is every way to get there from Cancun, what each costs in 2026, and which one makes sense for you.

How far is it?

From downtown Cancun the drive takes about an hour; from the Hotel Zone allow 1 to 1.5 hours, and more if your bus collects from several hotels. The park opens at 8:30 AM and the evening show ends around 10 PM, so a full Xcaret day from Cancun usually means leaving between 6:30 and 8 AM and getting back close to 11 PM. Reviewers who knew that in advance loved the day; the ones who did not found it long. If you are staying in Playa del Carmen instead, Xcaret is only 10 minutes away.

The four ways to get there

The official day trip (easiest): Grupo Xcaret’s own Cancun day trip picks you up at or near your hotel in an air-conditioned bus, hands out park wristbands on board, and brings you back after the show. It starts at $185 on Viator with free cancellation to 24 hours, and has 2,125 reviews averaging 4.3. Tickets plus transfers from a local operator: the tickets and round-trip transfers package (4.9 from 39 reviews, from $185) is run by a separate transport company. ADO bus: the public ADO coach runs from Cancun’s downtown terminal to Playa del Carmen, then it is a short taxi or colectivo ride; cheapest, but the late return is the tricky part. Rental car or taxi: flexible, with parking at the park; agree any taxi fare in advance, as late-night rides from the park are expensive.

Which should you pick?

Staying in the Cancun Hotel Zone without a car: take the day trip, because the transport is the hard part and the bus waits for the show to end.
